Dear Staff, Students, Families, & Community Partners of Halifax County Schools,
It is an honor to be joining such an incredible team. I am humbled to come alongside you as we continue to serve the children and families in this community. My husband Steve and I have found a home here in the community and will be moving this summer. We are looking forward to seeing you out and about at events and please come and introduce yourselves and fill us in on all the local places we should try.
As superintendent, my goal is to stretch us to even higher heights. I have prioritized my first 100 days into the following focus areas: Safe Schools, Student Achievement, Community Commitment, and Supportive Culture. I plan to put legs on this right away in two big ways. I will first, "Engage and Listen", and then “Act with Intention”. This two step process will give me the opportunity to engage various stakeholders in conversations relative to the priority areas as well as allow me to get to know everyone. I look forward to spending time listening and gathering input from so many of you in the coming weeks. Input from all viewpoints is valuable and will guide many decisions in our school division in the near future. I consider my first 100 days vitally important to my transition to Halifax County Public Schools as this time will help me establish relationships with the schools and community, allow you to get to know me and my commitment to all of you, and my passion for this work we do together. Please know my door is always open and I am only a phone call away.
My Best,
Amy Huskin, Ed. D.
